The Miami Heat need to improve their roster, potentially targeting Giannis Antetokounmpo or Coby White this summer.
Coby White is headed back home to North Carolina. A native of the Tar Heel State and of course, a University of North Carolina (UNC) alum, the 25-year-old spark plug guard has reportedly been dealt to his hometown Charlotte Hornets in a trade also sending veteran guard Mike Conley to Buzz City, while Collin Sexton, Ousmane Dieng, and three second-round picks go to the Chicago Bulls.
The Chicago Bulls continued to overhaul their roster on Wednesday, sending guard Coby White and Mike Conley to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Collin Sexton, Ousmane Dieng and three-second round picks, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania. The Hornets acquired Dieng and a second-rounder from the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Mason Plumlee, sources said. Dieng was then re-routed to Chicago amid multiple transactions.
Another rumor emerged recently that the Detroit Pistons, who could use a bit of 3-point marksmanship help, are also contemplating a move for White. Now, a new team has emerged as a possible White suitor: the Houston Rockets. Sidery suggests that Chicago team president Arturas Karnisovas could be open to a deal surrounding a future Houston first-round draft pick (the Rockets have many), plus the contract of a veteran like Dorian Finney-Smith or the injured Steven Adams to match money.
The Detroit Pistons are 8-2 in their last 10 games and now boast a 34-11 record - six games ahead of the 29-18 New York Knicks and Boston Celtics, the conference's respective Nos. 2 and 3 seeds. They're running away with the Eastern Conference, despite one big weakness: shooting. That's where Chicago Bulls combo guard Coby White could come in. Evan Sidery of Forbes reports that the Pistons, who currently have a $14.3 million trade exception, are contemplating a potential deal for White.
Chicago Bulls guard Josh Giddey will miss at least a few weeks because of a strained left hamstring, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania. Giddey walked off the court gingerly after he was injured early in the second half during Monday night's 136-101 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in Chicago. The injury is a tough blow for Giddey, who has career-best averages of 19.2 points, 9.0 assists and 8.9 rebounds this season.
