Unions representing French doctors have called for 'unprecedented' strike action starting on January 5th, in opposition to the draft 2026 social security bill. Seven doctors' unions issued a unified call for strike action on Wednesday, urging doctors to 'prepare for an unprecedented strike starting on Monday, January 5th.' The call for strikes specifically affects médecins libéraux, meaning self-employed doctors, such as GPs and specialists with their own practices, as well as medical students and interns (doctors in training).
One week into its open-ended unfair labor practices (ULP) strike, Starbucks Workers United is escalating its action, with hundreds of baristas in 25 additional cities joining picket lines. More than 2,000 Starbucks baristas are now striking at 95 stores in 65 cities, and new stores continue filing for union elections including five non-union shops that submitted petitions this week. The strike began Nov. 13 at about 65 unionized Starbucks stores in more than 40 cities under the banner Red Cup Rebellion.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Kaiser announced the five-day strike for 30,000 union employees in several states, including California, ended on Sunday. In a press release, Kaiser Permanente and the Alliance, the union that represents Kaiser, agreed to resume bargaining on October 22-23. "Kaiser Permanente is resuming normal operations with a focus on the continued delivery of high-quality, affordable care to our members and communities."
Las Vegas Aces president Nikki Fargas poked a little fun at how challenging it is for WNBA franchises to prepare for the biggest free agency period in league history. The British Columbia government has unveiled details of its last offer to striking public service workers, ahead of the expected expansion of job action by the B.C. General Employees' Union. The Finance Ministry says the government is proposing a 4.5 per cent compensation increase over two years, made up of both general wage increases and cost-of-living allowances.
