Omitted from the Notice Letter were the identity of the cybercriminals who perpetrated this Data Breach, the details of the root cause of the Data Breach, the vulnerabilities exploited, and the remedial measures undertaken to ensure such a breach does not occur again.
In the cyberattack reported by Odido two weeks ago, personal data from more than 6 million accounts was stolen. The stolen information includes names, home and email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, bank account numbers, and ID numbers.
It is clear that many employees are not exactly pleased about the return-to-office (RTO) concept. Remote work was a demonstration of trust on both sides, and for the most part, employees delivered, keeping businesses running through a pandemic and beyond. Unfortunately, WestJet confirmed that certain data was obtained from its systems. Since making that determination, WestJet conducted an analysis of that data to identify specific data elements and locate current contact information for certain United States residents who were impacted. As of September 15, 2025, WestJet completed that analysis and as a result is providing this notice. No credit card or debit card numbers, expiry dates and CVV numbers, and no guest user passwords were obtained.
