OpenAI is updating ChatGPT's deep research tool with a full-screen viewer that you can use to scroll through and navigate to specific areas of its AI-generated reports. As shown in a video shared by OpenAI, the built-in viewer allows you to open ChatGPT's reports in a window separate from your chat, while showing a table of contents on the left side of the screen, and a list of sources on the right.
Google is testing prefilling the search bar in a new Chrome tab, with teasers to encourage you to search deeper with AI Mode. Google is putting in the search box, "Research a topic," "Write something new," "Ask Google," and "Make a plan." Glenn Gabe spotted this change and posted on X saying, "Noticed this morning that Google had an animation of text running in the Google search bar in Chrome (in a new tab).
Now, I can do that thanks to the AI's latest skill. New skill available to all Unveiled on Wednesday, Gemini's Deep Research mode can now pull information from your personal or work Google account. Specifically, the AI can analyze and research your emails from Gmail, your documents from Google Docs, your files from Google Drive, and your conversations from Google Chat.
While AI agents show promise in bringing AI assistance to the next level by carrying out tasks for users, that autonomy also unleashes a whole new set of risks. Cybersecurity company Radware, as by The Verge, decided to test OpenAI's Deep Research agent for those risks -- and the results were alarming.
