Makeup is making the planet ugly. The beauty industry generates approximately 120 billion packaging items annually, most of which end up in landfills. Most beauty packaging is too small, made of mixed materials, or too flexible to be accepted by municipal curbside recycling programs. Compacts, lipstick tubes, mascara wands, pumps, and travel-size containers are typically not accepted at standard recycling facilities.
For many years I was also on the receiving end of gifts that were lovingly wrapped and gifted. I understand that for many people the best part of Christmas is to send a beautifully wrapped and thoughtful gift. I've discovered that when people ask, What do you want? or I need a list for you/your family, it's coming from a place of love, not to terrorize you.

Few kitchen tools are more essential than good knives. However, it's the nature of anything used so regularly that, eventually, it'll wear down past the point of effectiveness. At some point, you'll have to get rid of some kitchen knives to make room for newer ones in better shape. The question is, how do you properly (and safely) dispose of kitchen knives?
