Mr Michals, 26, told the Old Bailey that fellow Goldsmiths student Zhe Wang, 31, was "stressed" because she incorrectly believed she had contracted a sexually transmitted disease after they had sex in February 2024. He visited her flat in Lewisham, south-east London, the following month to bring some "normalcy" to the "bizarre situation", however after he arrived, Ms Wang came at him with a knife, jurors were told.
Emergency services were alerted to the property in the Grattan Wood apartment complex shortly after 11am after receiving reports of a stabbing at the unit used by Tusla as emergency accommodation for separated juveniles seeking international protection. Gardaí arrived at the scene and discovered a 17-year-old with serious suspected stab wounds. Despite efforts of paramedics to revive him, he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Borough Commander Trevor Lawry, who leads policing in the borough of Lewisham said: Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of this young man who have lost someone they love in such a tragic way. I know the community will have concerns following this incident, a dedicated homicide team is currently working to piece together this morning's events.
