ST. LOUIS - The Giants have transformed into an offensive juggernaut over the last two weeks, and Luis Matos has had no small role in that success. Since being recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Aug. 21, Matos is hitting .400/.429/.711 with three home runs, eight RBIs and 11 runs scored over 12 games. In his fourth game back, Matos led the Giants to a win over the Milwaukee Brewers by hitting a two-run homer in the second, then scoring the go-ahead run on a single by Heliot Ramos in the ninth.
Smith's first Splash Hit and the 107th in Oracle Park history was the highlight of a night where the Giants (67-68) outslugged the Baltimore Orioles 15-8 on Friday night and extended their winning streak to six games. Despite Friday's win, the Giants remain six games back of the Mets for the final NL wild card spot following New York's 19-9 bludgeoning of the Miami Marlins.
