Located in SF's Castro District, the GLBT Historical Society Museum is the first full-scale, stand-alone museum of its kind in the United States. The museum celebrates 100 years of the city's vast queer past through dynamic exhibitions and programming.

The building, designed by Walter Ratcliff, Jr. was declared one of the most beautiful and chaste buildings in the Bay region according to the Berkeley Daily Gazette. Heavenward pointing in its Gothic lines, the architecture, said Dr. Swartz (President of the PSR) was of the most inspiring character. Final plans call for a central tower as the crowning feature of the architectural scheme.

Born in Brooklyn, his life followed a path that blended scholarship, service and spiritual calling. He earned a bachelor's degree in history from Southern Connecticut State University. First, he felt drawn to ministry at the age of 19, according to his biography on the Brown Memorial Baptist Church website. That calling deepened his studies at Yale University, where he trained for the ministry and went on to graduate from divinity school in 1994.

Last year at Grace Cathedral's Carnivale, I found the plastic baby in the King Cake. Tradition dictates this brings good luck. In reality, it kicked off a spectacularly chaotic year where we were outbid on a house by a single minute, and then my daily professional life capsized. So, walking back into the cathedral this Friday night, now holding the keys to my first San Francisco home and owning The Bold Italic, felt less like attending a party and more like crossing a finish line.

Matthew Marrero witnessed the emotional detainment inside of 26 Federal Plaza on Nov. 24. The pair had been attending what they thought would be a joyous Green Card appointment that would cement their life together; instead, it turned into a nightmare when the Marreros were separated by ICE, and Allan was transferred from facility to facility. After months of fighting for his husband's freedom, Matthew Marrero flew to the Magnolia State on Jan. 27 for Allan's bond hearing.

"He was really nice and he loved his community and he was a pastor," said 10-year-old Lexington Baldridge.
