If SK Hynix crosses the threshold, South Korea becomes the first country outside the US to host two trillion-dollar companies at the same time. SK Hynix is roughly $50b n away from a trillion-dollar market capitalisation. Its shares closed Wednesday with a market value around $948bn, up more than 200% so far this year and 274% across 2025, on the same trade that has lifted nearly every name with high-bandwidth memory on its product page.
Shares of Micron ( NASDAQ: MU) are up about 14%, or by $31 this morning. All thanks to strong earnings. EPS of $4.78 beat by 82 cents. Revenue of $13.64 billion beat by $760 million. Moving forward, the company expects to earn between $8.22 and $8.62 per share, with revenue expected to be between $18.3 billion and $19.1 billion for the second quarter. Analysts were looking for $4.78 per share on revenue of $14.3 billion.
On October 30, Samsung Electronics reported a 32.5% increase in operating profit for the third quarter, driven by rebounding demand for its computer memory chips, which the company expects will continue to grow on the back of artificial intelligence. The South Korean technology giant set a new high in quarterly revenue, which rose nearly 9% to 86 trillion won ($60.4 billion) for the July-September period, fueled by increased sales of semiconductor products and mobile phones.
