A man is dead after an industrial accident in Vaughan on Thursday, said York police. Officers responded to an accident around noon on Thursday on Applewood Crescent, police said in an emailed statement. A man was pronounced dead at the scene after being assessed by paramedics on site. Police said the Ministry of Labour is investigating the incident.
The worker was creating a batch of paint at a Pigments Services Canada Inc. facility in April 2024 when their clothes became tangled in the machine, the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development said in a news release Monday. The paint mixing process involved lowering a paddle into a vat driven by an exposed rotating shaft, said the release. While working alone, the worker's clothing became entangled in the unguarded shaft, resulting in a fatal injury.
An apparent accident at a dairy in a rural farming community in Colorado involving exposure to gas killed six people, including a high school student, authorities said on Thursday. A male is dead after he was struck by a tractor trailer in an industrial accident in Toronto on Wednesday, police say. The incident happened in the area of Jethro Road and Wilson Avenue, near highways 400 and 401, Toronto police said in a a social media post. Police and paramedics were called to the scene at about 1:55 p.m. The male was pronounced dead at the scene.
