Parents and guardians of children beginning school next September are encouraged to visit their local library branch to collect a free book bag packed with reading materials and resources designed to help children prepare for starting school.
The Contra Costa County Library is excited to announce that James by Percival Everett is this year's Read Contra Costa book. The Pulitzer Prize- and National Book Award-winning novel is a powerful retelling of Huckleberry Finn from its character Jim's perspective. The countywide Read Contra Costa program runs from Sept. 2 through Nov. 8, encouraging residents to read the same book and share their experiences. The Contra Costa County Library is partnering with Tech Exchange to offer drop-in tech support at three branches, beginning July 29. Tech Exchange will assist patrons with various technology needs, including Internet service sign-ups and navigating library computers.
The library is taking the lead to be the interdisciplinary hub, which helps avoid silos created by department-specific AI guidelines. Libraries are for everyone; anyone should feel they can ask us for help.
