Erections result from relaxation of the arteries that carry blood into the penis. As those arteries relax, they expand, allowing extra blood to flow into the organ, which produces an erection hydraulically. Starting in the 1980s, researchers showed that ED was often a result of cardiovascular disease (CVD), arterial narrowing that reduces blood flow around the body. When CVD limits blood flow through the heart, the result is heart disease, in the brain, stroke, and in the penis, ED.

Most people say they want to live to a ripe old age. But that isn't really true. What people really want is to live to a ripe, old age in good mental and physical health. Some of us actually get to live this dream. These folks are known as super-agers and they make it well into their 80s not just in decent physical shape, but also with minds at least as sharp as people 30 years younger.

Roughly there's about 300,000 people living with diabetes in Ireland and 90% of that is type two diabetes. And about 10% will be type one. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition where the body's immune system destroys insulin-producing cells, leading to a complete lack of insulin, while Type 2 diabetes is characterized by insulin resistance, where the body doesn't use insulin effectively, and the pancreas doesn't make enough insulin to compensate.
