John Eastman, the attorney who masterminded the legal strategy behind President Donald Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election, has been officially disbarred in California. This disbarment follows the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol and the subsequent legal repercussions faced by Eastman and other attorneys involved in representing Trump.
The Justice Department, in a letter to Comer, appeared to request that Bondi be excused from testifying given her departure from DOJ, stating, 'We kindly ask that you confirm that the subpoena is withdrawn.'
"If he had done so, no doubt he could have been asked about things such as whether he ever got a good view of what happened, whether he actually saw [the complainant] being assaulted, or jumped to this conclusion on the basis of her screams," the judge said. He added: "He might also have been asked whether his perception was biased because he was close friends with [the complainant]."
In a post on X, Karoline Leavitt, the White House spokeswoman, praised the Secret Service's action: "In the middle of the night while most Americans were asleep, the United States Secret Service acted quickly and decisively to neutralize a crazy person, armed with a gun and a gas canister, who intruded President Trump's home." "Federal law enforcement are working 24/7 to keep our country safe and protect all Americans," she wrote. "It's shameful and reckless that Democrats have chosen to shut down their Department." Democrats are negotiating with the White House on a deal to reopen the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees the Secret Service, and has been without funding for more than a week, in exchange for changes to immigration enforcement operations.

There is no such pending Bar investigation of Lindsay Halligan. In this case, The Florida Bar received a complaint against Lindsay Halligan and, consistent with standard practice, the Bar is monitoring the ongoing legal proceedings underlying the complaint.

In a blow to the corporation, the Florida judge has also rejected the BBC's attempt to put off disclosing internal documents relating to the episode of Panorama that contained the spliced version of Trump's 2021 address. Trump made the speech in Washington before supporters stormed the US Capitol.
