I define feminine energy as the urge to connect and nurture, which everybody exhibits. If we disconnect from feminine energy, we lose the ability to connect deeply to ourselves in a meaningful way. We lose the ability to really nurture ourselves in a healthy way. We lose community because we lose the ability to connect to one another and nurture one another.

Los Angeles-based photographer Kaitlin Maxwell was raised in South Florida and experienced the passing of her father at a young age. Photography has been a way for Maxwell to navigate the world, find meaning and a sense of identity. Using natural light and a medium format film camera, Maxwell's practice is an intimate study of the human condition, rooted in a desire to understand what it means to be seen.

DNA analysis showed that people buried under the same house were often related on their mother's side, indicating a matrilineal household formation in Catalhoyuk.
