This opening is about bringing Fuku back in a way that feels authentic and fun. Great food, no overthinking it, and a place people actually want to hang out. The new restaurant, a 2,000-square-foot space in the former location of Lien Bruno patisserie on Miracle Mile, will serve the sandwiches that started an obsession.
The noodles cooked up beautifully - a constant across the board for all the noodle packs - but the flavors of the spice packet didn't have any standout characteristics. Made from a mixture of soy sauce and sesame oil, with added aromatics from the galangal and star anise, the spicy chili flavored noodles don't taste bad. But, the chili, chili powder, and Sichuan peppercorns all fade to the background and become eclipsed by the strength of the soy sauce.
The Momofuku noodles in the Tingly Chili package are noticeably wider than the other flavor varieties, and they take a bit longer to cook. But, that extra time is worth it, resulting in instant noodles that are substantially more tender and chewy than what you're likely used to from other instant ramen brands. In addition to providing satisfying a mouthfeel, the taste of theis instant ramen strikes just the right balance between the wheat noodles and the spicy sauce.
