The annual Show of Hope gala benefiting the San Francisco Community Health Center's lifesaving services took place on April 4, 2026, at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco.

The Academy SFPHOTO BKY RIN New Year's Eve celebrations were captured by San Francisco Bay Times contributing photographers throughout the Castro, on Polk Street, in Walnut Creek at Rossmoor, and more. Columnist Donna Sachet joined Gary Virginia and friends at 440 Castro, while Dr. Dee Spencer was among the performers at the annual New Year's Eve Party at The Academy SF. LGBTQ+ community members also gathered at Polk Street venues, including The Cinch Saloon.

There's something about the holiday season that makes us all feel like kids again. Maybe it's the crisp air, the smell of pine, or the anticipation of gathering with loved ones. For me, though, it's the lights. Those twinkling, shimmering displays that transform ordinary streets into something magical. Across America, entire towns take this tradition seriously, turning themselves into winter wonderlands that draw visitors from all over the world.
