The legislation, reintroduced for a third time on Jan. 29 by Democratic Councilwoman Crystal Hudson, would require that "young people" be "diverted" to "community-based organizations to receive services in lieu of criminal enforcement."
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani plans to appoint Faiza Ali, former first deputy chief of staff to prior City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams, as the city's chief immigration officer, City Hall officials said Tuesday. Mamdani and Ali previously served together on the board of the Muslim Democratic Club of New York, one of the mayor's political homes where he made a number of trusted allies. City Hall spokesperson Dora Pekec confirmed Ali's appointment as commissioner of the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs.

I will be voting for Andrew Cuomo, not because he's perfect, but because he's capable of leading the largest city in America while his opponent Zohran Mamdani, a 33-year-old with almost no work experience, is a dangerous ideologue who will continue to fan the flames of anti-Jewish hatred.
