Western Union is six months into a migration of 900 to 1,200 applications that run across a 3,900-core server fleet. The decision to move came during a period of re-invention at Western Union, a 175-year-old company that is currently working to become more customer-focused and therefore is open to new suppliers to help reach that goal.

Microsoft recently announced a limited preview of Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) for hybrid environments, a new capability that brings cloud-native desktop virtualization to existing on-premises infrastructure. With this update, on-premises Arc-Enabled Servers can be configured as AVD session hosts, expanding Azure Virtual Desktop's hybrid capabilities beyond Azure Local to Microsoft Hyper-V, Nutanix AHV, VMware vSphere, and physical Windows Servers, or anywhere Arc-Enabled Servers can be deployed on-premises.

Some of the personnel changes and additional reviews that we've seen in the U.S. Fed seem to continue and have resulted in longer deal cycles and some increased variability overall in that particular vertical for us.
