Five years ago we were in the throes of the Covid pandemic. Many businesses were shuttered, their employees working from home or online. Essential workers were putting their lives at risk. Most schools had gone to remote learning. Hospitals were overwhelmed and bodies were literally piling up. By the end of September 2020, 200,000 Americans had died from the virus which would eventually take more than one million lives in this country alone.

Meteorologists for AccuWeather issued a warning for millions of Americans living along the Northeast coastline to prepare for a potentially catastrophic hurricane disaster.

True emergencies require an immediate response to irreparable harm, yet recent Supreme Court rulings misrepresent such situations and obscure justices' voting.

"If you find yourself facing a power outage during an extreme weather event, there's many things you can do to get through it comfortably but the most important thing is to plan ahead."

In a hypothetical zombie apocalypse, New York is ranked among the least prepared states due to high population density, limited survival resources, and sparse hospitals.

"I was so mad. Then I had an idea." - JJ Benka recalls her frustration with her husband's lack of preparation, which inspired her to instill a lesson in responsibility during their trip.

"I don't hire an apartment in a tall building beyond the first floor in Nairobi," Kianji said, emphasizing the urgent need for greater awareness of Africa's seismic risks.

Most people don't want to think about death - let alone talk about it. Yet, when faced with loss, families often feel overwhelmed by grief and swift decisions.
