The Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority will present an update on the progress of its Agricultural Strategic Plan during a Jan. 20 webinar hosted by the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce. The authority is developing a strategy to define its role in supporting local agriculture. Anna Regalado, the authority's agricultural specialist, will share information about the goals of the plan and how input from the public and important stakeholdersincluding farmers, farmworkers and rancherswill influence the plan.
The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors will ask the public tomorrow night (Oct. 28) for their ideas on how to fill the vacancy left when the sheriff was fired. The board unanimously ousted elected Sheriff Christina Corpus on Oct. 14. Undersheriff Dan Perea, who was hired by Corpus, has assumed the sheriff's duties but won't be elevated to the title of interim sheriff.
It appears as if that input from the public, boards, commissions and even the council is largely disregarded," Councilman Pat Burt said. "Then we get a product at the end that inadequately reflects a lot of the input that is based upon context knowledge and not just the important domain expertise of the consultants. And we'll get a product that we disagree with fundamentally at the end even though we've put in a year or two and hundreds of thousands of dollars.
