The NBA faces a significant tanking crisis, where teams intentionally lose games to secure better draft positions for elite talent.
Teams that look strong on paper can often perform much less impressively if even one or two key players are removed from the mix, and even the very best teams can look vulnerable with a long enough string of tough-luck injuries.
Youth 4 Youth was built by players who are currently living the journey. We're taking the doors we've walked through and holding them open for the next generation.
"I saw people who never knew each other [before] meet at the event and develop strong relationships. A lot of people came just to watch and be part of that community. That's when I knew this was special."
The calendar shift is one of the most important decisions in our history. Aligning our schedule with the world's top leagues will strengthen our clubs' global competitiveness, create better opportunities in the transfer market, and ensure our Audi MLS Cup Playoffs take center stage without interruption. It marks the start of a new era for our league and for soccer in North America.
The final game of the night was Crespi pulling out a 65-61 win over Loyola when Isaiah Barnes scored while falling down with 15 seconds left for the game-clinching basket. Despite the loss, Loyola claimed fourth place in the seedings while finishing in a three-way tie for fourth with Crespi and St. Francis. The Cubs, though, are 14-14 and will need a win Saturday against the winner of Thursday's Bishop Alemany (No. 8) vs. St. Francis (No. 5) game to keep alive their Southern Section playoff hopes. You need a .500 or better record to be considered for an at-large berth.
In that experience I came away thinking that associations could actually be stronger for their members if they had voluntary membership, Cofano said. A lot of members view their dues as a tax and that creates this negative tension between members and the organization, and that is always an uphill battle in delivering value. In many parts of the country; however, it was challenging to untie Realtor membership with MLS access, Cofano said, preventing any sort of meaningful change.
Turns out the sci-fi filmmakers got it backwards. All those '70s and '80s dystopias like "Rollerball," "The Running Man," "Death Race 2000," imagined futures in which sports were full of gadgets and gimmicks like armored cars, rocket-powered motorbikes, and electrified arenas. In reality, we got the opposite - the padding's gone, and the high-tech monitoring equipment is nowhere to be found.
The organisers of the Champions Cup are looking to shift the start of the tournament back to October to add extra impetus to the pool stages. This year's competition kicked off in December, but there is collective support from coaches and clubs to commence their campaigns before the packed November Test window. The current structure and calendar slots are technically in place until 2030, but there is growing recognition that a change could be helpful.
The Milwaukee Brewers, Miami Marlins, Kansas City Royals, St. Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds have decided they will partner with MLB, which will produce their games for the 2026 season and beyond. The Tampa Bay Rays are also part of that mix, according to media reporter John Ourand, who first broke the news. The Cardinals, Royals and Brewers have formally announced the transition.
I'm happy for the guys. I feel like we're trying to learn some things while we're playing games. Playing three games really quickly in Coachella, to then very quickly jumping on a plane and going to Panama, to coming back and quickly playing New York and quickly turning this game around.
Now that the 2025 NFL season is over, we're looking ahead at just how much work teams that were left out of the playoffs must do this offseason -- and potentially beyond. Which teams need to tear down and regroup? Which should take a new approach to move toward contender status? Which can be in the mix after only a savvy move or two? And which are already trending in the right direction and could contend sooner rather than later?
Both the PLL and WLL teams will compete from Feb. 27 through March 8 at the St. James in Springfield, Va., in the Sixes format. This is the same format that will be used when lacrosse returns to the Olympics at the Los Angeles Games in 2028. All games will be available on the ESPN App and in the streaming hubs for the PLL and WLL.
A University of Florida basketball crowd started a brutal chant for an opposing player who returned to college after an unsuccessful stint in the NBA. During Sunday's game between the Gators and the Alabama Crimson Tide, Alabama center Charles Bediako was at the free throw line when the chant rang out across the gym. As he prepared to shoot, the crowd's criticism of the 23-year-old was loud and clear, as G League dropout! could be heard on the TV broadcast.
