A doctor who raped a nurse as she was sleeping on a couch at a friend's apartment has been jailed for eight years. The victim, who is entitled to her legal right to anonymity, said she "got justice" after her rapist Dr Louay Kila was convicted by a jury last week following his trial.
An inquiry panel of the Teaching Council has also ruled that the man, who is in his early 40s, cannot apply to have his name restored to the register for at least 30 years because of the case's "exceptional and disturbing features".
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the model and actress wants to legally change 11-year-old Fianna Masterson's name to Fianna Phillips, further cutting ties with the disgraced That '70s Show alum. Phillips is still waiting for a judge to approve the request, but she scored a win on Friday when a judge declared the estranged spouses legally single. Phillips had filed for divorce in September 2023, less than two weeks after Masterson was sentenced to prison for two counts of forcible rape.
Dr Andrew McFarlane, 61, was arrested and charged with communications offences in August after he called Ellie Wilson a "manipulative liar", a "slut" and a "hippo" in a series of posts on X. In 2022 his son Daniel McFarlane was convicted of raping Ms Wilson, who has since become a campaigner for survivors of male sexual violence. A federal appeals court on Monday upheld the $83.3 million fine imposed by a lower court on President Donald Trump for defaming writer and journalist E. Jean Carroll in 2019. Carroll had months earlier accused Trump of raping her in a Manhattan department store fitting room in the 1990s, an attack for which the U.S. president was found guilty of sexual assault.
