Stevie Wonder led an all-start tribute to funk legend Sly Stone to kick off the 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The performance also featured Flea of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beck, Questlove of The Roots, Maxwell, Jennifer Hudson, and Best New Artist Grammy nominee Leon Thomas. The collaboration opened with "Dance to the Music" - and Flea even took a moment on lead vocals - before Maxwell came out for "Everyday People."
Sly Stone, born Sylvester Stewart, left this earth today, but the changes he sparked while here will echo forever. From the moment his music reached me in the early 1970s, it became a part of my soul.
