The federal government intervened to declare the strike unconstitutional, allowing Air Canada to attempt to resume operations amidst ongoing labor disputes and unaddressed issues of unpaid work.
Nonprofit legal providers at the Urban Justice Center and NYLAG, including housing attorneys for low-income tenants, went on strike over wages and caseloads. The political landscape is more favorable for workers than during the last major strike in 1994.
"Strike won! All jobs are back! The union announced on Instagram. We will be returning to work officially on April 18 but feel free to start patronizing the Alamos in [Brooklyn] and Manhattan as soon as today."
