Washington needs a proven No. 2 wide receiver alongside Terry McLaurin, either via free agency or internal development.
The 2024 second-team All-Pro began his seventh year in Washington as a no-show in training camp and preseason during a dramatic contract standoff with general manager Adam Peters. The matter was resolved in time for the regular season, but he started slowly and then suffered a quad/hip flexor injury in Week 3 against the Las Vegas Raiders. McLaurin missed seven of Washington's next eight games, eventually finishing the season with 582 receiving yards and three touchdowns from 38 receptions.
Terry McLaurin will make his triumphant return for the Washington Commanders on Sunday Night Football against the Denver Broncos in Week 13. This is only his fifth appearance of the campaign, and it'll be fascinating to see how he fares after another extended spell on the sidelines. Getting McLaurin back gives everyone a massive morale boost. The Commanders are slowly getting healthier. Although they are missing star quarterback Jayden Daniels, having the former Ohio State standout involved will only help.
So a lot of things that are a part of my game, I need to feel that [they] are 100 percent before I could put myself out there. Because I'm not only hurting the team, but I'm hurting myself. Being able to accelerate and run by people, slam on the brakes - that's my game. My injury hindered a lot of that. But I feel really good right now.
There was an enormous amount of concern when Brown got carted off the practice field at mandatory minicamp. The Commanders didn't officially disclose the issue, but they treated the Ohio State product with extreme caution over training camp. Brown didn't get any reps during the preseason, which wasn't a great shock in the circumstances. However, the fact that he looked explosive and sharp during an on-field workout before Washington's final warmup game against the Baltimore Ravens represented a positive step in the right direction.
