I'm not sure what to make of the Mario Kart AI art controversy
Briefly

Nintendo announced the launch of Mario Kart World for the Nintendo Switch 2, scheduled for June 5. However, gamers questioned the game's graphics, alleging that some elements, including billboards, appeared AI-generated based on their strange designs. Despite these claims, Nintendo asserted it did not utilize AI in development. The need for Nintendo to defend its design choices illustrates the broader concerns in the gaming community regarding AI-generated content and the blurred lines as such technology becomes more prevalent.
Some gamers took to social media to claim that footage from a recent Nintendo Treehouse livestream showing Mario Kart World gameplay showed clear signs of AI-generated content.
But the surprising thing here perhaps isn't the fact that Nintendo didn't use AI, but that it saw the need to defend itself in the first place.
As AI art gets harder to spot, anything can be accused of being made with it. Which begs the question, where will it end?
Nintendo has since denied the claims, telling Eurogamer, 'AI-generated images were not used in the development of Mario Kart World.'
