"Truly a middle finger": Humane bricking $700 AI Pins with limited refunds
Briefly

After the launch of its AI Pin in April 2024, Humane is shutting down the project, resulting in no refunds for many customers. The AI Pin, which featured advanced functionalities such as a voice assistant and camera, will stop working on February 28, 2025. Humane, which raised $241 million and had a valuation of $1 billion before launch, is instead directing efforts towards selling its operating system and intellectual property to HP for $116 million. Customer data will also be permanently deleted upon discontinuation.
Most customers who purchased the AI Pin will not receive a refund as the company discontinues the device due to its shift to new endeavors.
Humane reported it will permanently delete all customer data, including personally identifiable information, when the AI Pin is bricked on February 28.
