The Museu de Arte de São Paulo (Masp) recently celebrated the opening of its long-awaited annex expansion on March 28, with exhibitions showcasing its extensive 78-year collection. Despite ongoing construction on the connecting tunnel to the historical building, visitors are keen to explore the architectural dialogue between the new slender black structure, named after Pietro Maria Bardi, and the original glass-and-concrete museum designed by Lina Bo Bardi. The unique design elements create stunning vistas, particularly enhanced by works such as Lydia Okumura's stainless-steel installation that resonates with the new architectural language.
The new annex, named after Pietro Maria Bardi, contrasts with Masp's historical building while offering continuity in design, exhibiting various notable works from its collection.
Adriano Pedrosa highlighted that while the museum opens its expansion, significant construction will continue, emphasizing the ongoing transformation of the museum’s physical space.
