After a year in the biomedical field, 26-year-old Lian Yung Morales is pursuing her passion for art with her inaugural solo exhibition, 'Lucky Numbers.' Focused on her mixed Chinese-Puerto Rican background, the series features vibrant interpretations of the 12 Chinese zodiac animals. The project, inspired by early calligraphy lessons and the work of artist Kim Jung Gi, aims to celebrate identity and foster connection. Yung's spontaneous, process-driven approach culminated in a collection that invites viewers to see themselves reflected in their zodiac signs.
This project favors her Chinese heritage. She was influenced early on by calligraphy lessons from her grandfather.
I want this show to feel like a celebration of identity and connection.
