US Navy veteran Steve Kost, of Palos Park, Illinois, creates scrap metal art through his brand, Metal Health Artwork
Briefly

Steve Kost, a combat veteran and ironworker, is creating scrap metal marionettes and animal sculptures as part of his artistic brand, Metal Health Artwork. His work has been recognized by notable institutions like the Library Of Congress and will feature his piece 'Freedom Flight' in a Google campaign for veteran artists in 2024. Kost's journey into art began after seeking mental health counseling, and he aims to inspire the military community by demonstrating that purpose can still be found after difficult experiences in combat.
His artwork has been exhibited at the Library Of Congress and the Illinois State Museum. In 2024, he was selected by Google to represent veteran artists.
I really enjoy the challenge of finding the pieces as they are. My artwork is sharing that there is still a sense of purpose and I think that relates to our military community.
