Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman has been placed on the injured list for the first time in his career due to a mild left oblique strain. Interim manager Tony Mansolino stated that the team aims to avoid exacerbating Rutschman's condition, which will keep him out through the All-Star break. Rutschman experienced pain during batting practice, resulting in him being removed from the lineup and subsequently undergoing an MRI. The 27-year-old player has a .227 batting average with eight home runs and 20 RBIs this season, although he is considered one of the more durable catchers in the league.
"Mansolino described Rutschman injury as 'mild' but added that the team doesn't want to do anything to aggravate the problem and keep the two-time All-Star out longer."
"Rutschman began feeling pain Friday during batting practice before he was scratched from that day's lineup then placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday after undergoing an MRI."
