After shutting off mental health care for Austin musicians, SIMS Foundation restarts services - Austin Monitor
Briefly

The SIMS Foundation is restarting its mental health services for Austin musicians after a three-month hiatus due to fundraising efforts and a transition to a new service model. With community support, the foundation met its fundraising goal of $500,000. Previously, SIMS offered discounted care but will now provide partial assistance while encouraging clients to enroll in low-cost insurance plans. Some musicians, however, express concerns about the unclear communication regarding service changes and the impact on the critical care they rely on.
We just couldn't be more thankful for the community to really rally to our support and understand the challenges that we were under, and they came to our aid.
Aspects of our service are just no longer sustainable, but the nonprofit didn't communicate a clear path forward.
