Wheels for Wellbeing, a charity based in Lambeth, South London, is working to make cycling accessible to everyone, particularly disabled individuals. They offer adaptive bicycles and free cycle loans, creating a safe environment for users to enjoy cycling. One of the beneficiaries, Susie, mentioned how cycling has boosted her confidence and independence, enabling her to commute to work without relying on her parents. With a significant rise in cycling rates in London, the charity aims to ensure that disabled individuals are not excluded from this growing trend.
"Cycling has helped me feel more confident about going out on my own," says Susie, who now cycles to work and no longer relies on lifts from her parents.
Lambeth-based Wheels for Wellbeing provides a safe, supportive space for disabled people to discover or rediscover the joy of cycling, thanks to a range of adaptive bicycles and free cycle loans.
As cycling in the capital has increased by more than 50% in the past two years, the charity wants to ensure no one is left behind.
