The Inspirational Story of the Sickest Mullet in Mountain Biking
Briefly

Nicholi Rogatkin, a prominent figure in slopestyle mountain biking, is the subject of a new documentary by Keenan DesPlanques and Specialized Bikes. Known for his unique styling and groundbreaking tricks, he first gained recognition by landing the world's first 1080 in competition during Crankworx Rotorua in 2016. Over his two-decade career, Nicholi has continually pushed the boundaries of the sport, most recently executing the first-ever 1440 in a slopestyle run at Big White in 2024. His dedication to progressing the sport and inspiring the next generation stands as a testament to his impact in mountain biking.
"In March 2016, I was watching Crankworx Rotorua with friends. I was a senior in high school, and Crankworx slopestyle was always a highlight - especially the first event of the year. Nicholi was new to the scene, and he was riding completely differently from everyone else. Then, he landed the world's first 1080 in competition, cementing himself as one of the most exciting names to watch."
"I have so many tricks in mind that I have to conquer, but more importantly, I want to continue pushing the level of the sport with the next generation of talent!" Nicholi says.
"He's landed world-first tricks like the 1080, 1440, Cashroll Tailwhip, and Frontflip Tailwhip. I'm probably missing something - it's ridiculous what this guy has done for slopestyle MTB," continues Keenan.
Despite two decades of competition, Nicholi continues to reshape the boundaries of possibility. In 2024, at Big White, he successfully executed the first-ever 1440 in a slopestyle run, and he is already focusing on future aspirations.
