Boards and Administrators Won't Defend Higher Ed From Trump. It's Up to Us.
Briefly

Columbia University faculty protested Trump's administration's concessions on March 24, 2025, in support of the Palestine solidarity movement, which began in 2023-2024. This movement has faced severe repression from universities yielding to the administration's tactics, resulting in academic staff being dismissed and silenced. Despite these dangers, resistance has emerged across campuses, supported by labor unions and solidarity organizations, fighting against the attacks on free speech and institutional integrity, with Portland State University among those targeted for baseless investigations concerning antisemitic harassment.
Now professors are being fired, forced to resign or denied tenure. Launching a reign of terror by disappearing and arresting student, faculty and staff dissenters.
In spite of these overwhelming threats to higher education, faculty, staff and students throughout the country are resisting. We are fighting the criminalization of free speech.
