While many residents argue the current policy is linked to rising crime, Mitchell stands firm against modifying it for property crimes, adhering to national best practices. The Police Commission now must decide whether to accept his recommendations or suggest alternatives.
I understand that no policy, however expansive or restrictive, will fully satisfy all parties... grounded in national best practices and extensive stakeholder input.
Based on the input I've received from many of the stakeholders... it's not something that I am in a position to recommend that we change at this time.
