Vivien Mansbach, a California toddler who inspired the bestselling children’s book “Go the F- to Sleep,” is headed to college and is again the focus of her father Adam Mansbach’s latest novel. Adam Mansbach has released “Go the F- to College,” his fourth book in the series that began when Vivien was three. Vivien described the new book as roasting teenagers while giving them more personality. She said she became emotional when she saw the illustrations and the depiction of a “lifeless house.” She plans to leave Northern California to attend Bard College in New York. She also said her father’s humor carries sweet undertones that reflect their affection.
"Vivien told The Oaklandside. "He's sort of roasting me a little bit, or roasting teenagers in general," Vivien told The Oaklandside. "But it's cool to have more of a personality in this book, even if it's meant to be a one-size-fits-all teenager." "I'm more of a character than when I was two years old.""
"Vivien, who is now 18, told the outlet she didn't get emotional until she saw the illustrations for her dad's latest book and how he described what will soon be a "lifeless house." "That is sad, but then it's not that sad because he says it's lifeless because there's 'nothing to fill the time we spent and cleaning up your f-ing mess,'" Vivien said."
"She said her father's writing style mimics how they show love and affection to each other - through humor and silly or ironic ways. "It's nice to recognize the sweet undertones of those books, even though they're full of profanity and jokes," Vivien told the outlet aboutof the popular series. "I could always recognize the love coming through.""
