The Bruins began rebuilding after a disappointing 2024-25 season with an informal captains practice in Brighton featuring more than 20 players in two hour-long, competitive sessions. Full-squad training camp opens September 17 at Warrior Ice Arena. Captains practices have historically been organized by former captains, but the current roster has no designated captain after Brad Marchand's departure. Charlie McAvoy emphasized a committee approach to leadership, saying responsibility will be distributed across the group and that additional leaders may be brought into the fold. No captain will be named before the 2025-26 season; McAvoy and David Pastrnak are early favorites.
