Officers were dispatched to the Harbor Base Inn in Rhode Island to deliver a death notification. Police attempted to contact Terry Costello, 85, to inform her that her son, 66, had died by suicide. Officers later found Costello’s body in a hotel room. The state medical examiner is conducting an autopsy. Police are investigating her death as a homicide. Investigators believe the incident is isolated and that there is no active threat to the public.

Police were trying to contact Terry Costello, 85, to announce that her son, 66, had died by suicide, the department said. Officers found Costello's body in one of the hotel's rooms, police said."
