Brooklyn man sentenced to nine years for shooting near Murrow High School
Briefly

"This defendant's unlawful decision to open fire near a school not only injured an innocent 16-year-old girl but shattered the sense of safety that every student, parent and community member deserves," said District Attorney Eric Gonzalez.
"No young person should ever have to fear gunfire while walking home from school, and no community should bear the trauma of such senseless violence," Gonzalez added. "Brooklyn recently experienced its safest summer from gun violence on record, and we remain committed to building on that progress."
The victim, who was rushed to a local hospital with substantial bleeding and a fractured ankle, has since recovered but was left with both physical and emotional scars from the incident.
Johnson fired at least 10 shots before fleeing the scene after handing off the gun to another individual. He pleaded guilty to first-degree attempted assault.
