A security guard at GMD Shipyard reported the incident to police around 8 a.m. on Dec. 18, saying the man was seen using tools to cut copper wiring.
The arrest occurred just over a week after a similar incident at the same shipyard. On Dec. 10, police arrested a 38-year-old man accused of stealing $10,000 worth of copper wiring from a crane at the facility.
Reports of burglary were up last year in Brooklyn Navy Yard's 88th Precinct, which includes Clinton Hill and surrounding areas, according to Police Department data.
The precinct had recorded 147 burglaries, a 40% increase from the 105 burglaries reported during the same period in 2023.
