Truck driver arrested in fatal Bushwick hit-and-run
Briefly

According to NYPD reports, the pedestrian was within the north crosswalk, attempting to cross DeKalb Avenue eastbound in the north crosswalk, when a white box truck struck him.
Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad determined that the white 2025 Freightliner MT 45G delivery truck, traveling westbound on Wyckoff Avenue, then attempted to make a right turn onto northbound DeKalb Avenue when it struck Gallardo Tirado.
Officers later arrested driver Lennis Escalona Luna, the truck's driver, at the company's Park Slope headquarters, charging him for failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to exercise due care.
Local residents said that the line of sight for drivers and pedestrians alike is often blocked with double-parked vehicles.
