On Sunday night, a serious apartment fire in Crown Heights injured two residents, as firefighters faced multiple challenges in controlling the blaze. With quick action, they managed to rescue several residents from thick smoke, highlighting their dedication in crisis moments. Notably, the fire was one of three that erupted in the area within just a 12-hour timeframe, raising concerns over neighborhood safety and the potential need for increased fire prevention measures.
Firefighters responded swiftly to the scene at 921 Montgomery St., arriving just after 7:15 p.m. and confronting heavy flames coming from the first floor. Thanks to the efforts of Ladder Company 123, numerous residents were guided safely out amid perilous conditions, as they also contended with a car blocking access to a fire hydrant. After deploying two hose lines and the coordinated efforts of 60 firefighters, they were able to extinguish the main body of the fire.
