Adam Miller, Lifeline's general manager, emphasized the alarming reality of increased calls for help, stating that five of the busiest days in Lifeline’s history have occurred in the past six months, illustrating the significant societal challenges we face today.

Financial concerns are paramount, with Miller noting that many individuals reach out due to 'financial stress and financial anxiety,' highlighting ongoing worries about job security in a precarious economic environment.

The recent economic data reveals a critical picture: with just 0.3% growth for the quarter and 0.8% over the year, both household spending and private investment contributed nothing to this growth, showing a reluctance among individuals and businesses to spend.

Miller pointed out that while anxiety has slightly decreased since the height of the pandemic, it remains at concerning levels: 'People are very concerned about what might come, when they're already struggling financially to pay the essentials.'
