The collision happened around 4:30 a.m. near Fremont Boulevard and Delaware Drive, according to the Fremont Police Department. The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital, where they later died from their injuries. The Alameda County Coroner's Bureau will release the person's identity after it is confirmed and their next of kin is notified."

Investigators determined the driver was traveling southbound on Fremont Boulevard approaching Delaware Drive when the vehicle's front driver's side struck the pedestrian, who was either walking or riding a bicycle eastbound near the south side of the intersection. A marked crosswalk is present; police do not know if the pedestrian was in it. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating; drug and alcohol impairment do not appear to be factors.
