Authorities have ramped up their search for 16-year-old Mila Schweyer, who went missing while hiking in the popular Lakes Basin Recreation Area amid difficult terrain.
Mila, described as 5 feet tall and weighing 110 pounds, was last seen wearing a dark gray sweatshirt and hiking with a small dog, raising concerns for her safety.
The search includes both ground search-and-rescue teams and a helicopter from the California Highway Patrol, highlighting the urgency and challenges of finding the missing teenager.
Plumas County Sheriff's Office is asking for public assistance and encourages anyone with information to come forward, as they continue to seek additional resources for the ongoing search.
