The article discusses the challenges colleges face in getting students to utilize career services. A survey revealed that one-third of students had no interaction with their career center. To address this, Lebanon Valley College launched the Success Expo, where classes are canceled to allow students to focus on career and academic services. This initiative is part of a broader institutional strategy to enhance student career outcomes, emphasizing the need for structured opportunities for engagement with career resources.
This is our third year undertaking this initiative, and we're so pleased at how it's developed and changed and improved over that time period.
We wanted to make sure that students had dedicated time to develop a success plan, whether it involved academic advising, career and professional development services.
