As road rage evolves into a new concern known as EV charging rage, evidenced by social media posts and altercations among electric vehicle owners, Tesla is responding to this issue. Following a violent incident at a Supercharger station, Tesla announced a pilot program for virtual queuing at select locations, aiming to improve customer experience during wait times. The company is also expanding its Supercharger network significantly. However, there is uncertainty about whether non-Tesla EVs will be included in this new system when rolled out.
In response to this rage, and specifically to a fight that broke out at a packed Supercharger station, Tesla announced it would start virtual queuing pilots.
The goal is a net customer experience improvement for the ~1% cases of a wait time, but it remains unclear who will benefit from this system.
