In October, electric vehicle registrations in the United States went up 5% compared to the same month last year, thanks in no part to Tesla, which recorded a decline and nearly took down the whole industry with it. With fewer customers opting for Tesla vehicles, the overall market could have seen a significant growth of 11% without their earlier dominance.
In total, Americans bought 101,304 EVs in October, out of which records show that Tesla sold fewer vehicles than last year; specifically, a 1.8% drop year-on-year. The Model Y and Model 3 remain leading models, but with declining numbers, it signifies a potential shift in consumer preferences toward other brands, such as Hyundai and General Motors.
