Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is optimistic about Ben Chilwell's potential impact following his loan from Chelsea, as the England defender has struggled for game time this season. After featuring only once for Chelsea, Chilwell hopes to regain form at Crystal Palace, where he faces competition from the consistent Tyrick Mitchell. Glasner noted Chilwell's impressive training efforts, although he missed first-team training at Chelsea in January, and anticipates giving him minutes in the upcoming FA Cup match against Doncaster Rovers.
"It can be a big chance for him," said Glasner. "He has to compete with Tyrick Mitchell because he has had an excellent season for us, very consistent on a very high level."
Ben played many games for Chelsea and then, for reasons I don't know and I don't care, he didn't play. That was the only opportunity that we could sign him here."
Unfortunately, he couldn't take part in Chelsea's team training in January. Team training is a little bit different, so we have to give him some days and maybe weeks."
